In response to receiving the Aesthetic Everything® Aesthetic and Cosmetic Medicine Award for “Top Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner”, Jamie Howder said, “Our patients are the single most important factor for our success. Top customer service is crucial and it is important that our patients feel valued as soon as they walk into our practice. This honor of being voted a “Top Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner” 2019 reflects our practice’s commitment to providing our patients with the best customer service and the best treatments to help them achieve the best version of themselves. They may walk in as a patient, but they will leave as a friend!”

At the age of 20, Howder began her career as an ER registered nurse. Her medical knowledge and devotion to patient care led her to rapidly advance to emergency room Charge Nurse within a year. There, she led a team of nurses r with physicians and a multidisciplinary team. The challenging work in the ER energized and inspired her. Reflecting on her days in the ER, Howder noted, “At the end of every shift – worn out or not worn out – I felt like I had made a difference in the care I provided to my patients. Whether it was holding the hand of a dying patient who had no family, to doing chest compressions to save a life, to helping assist birthing an emergency delivery of a newborn baby, the life of the emergency department was always changing. While working in the emergency department, I continued my education to become a family nurse practitioner.”

In 2010, she earned a degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She then shifted into the field of Cosmetic Dermatology and Medical Aesthetics.  Her degrees include MSN-FNP, Family Nurse Practitioner and BSN from the University of Phoenix as well as a Masters of Science from Loma Linda University School of Nursing. Howder’s certifications include: Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner; Board Certified in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy; Certified in Injectables of the Face; Certified In Laser Medicine.

Ms. Howder currently practices at Hospitality Medical Aesthetics in Redlands, California. The Med Spa, itself, is no stranger to awards, having been voted a “Best Day Spa” on the Inland Empire HOT LIST.

Being a nurse is truly my passion. I started my career as a registered nurse when I was 20 years old. My career began as a registered nurse in the emergency department. Less than a year I was the charge nurse of the emergency department leading a wonderful team of nurses and working together with our doctors and multidisciplinary team. I loved emergency medicine. It was challenging, rewarding, hard work, and at the end of every shift worn out or not worn out I felt like I had made a difference in the care I provided to my patients. Whether it was holding the hand of a dying patient who had no family, to doing chest compressions to save a life, to helping assist birthing an emergency delivery of a newborn baby, the life of the emergency department was always changing. While working in the emergency department, I continued my education to become a family nurse practitioner.

In 2008, I graduated as a family nurse practitioner and started my career in cosmetic dermatology and medical aesthetics. As a nurse practitioner, I am a licensed independent practitioner working under standardized procedures in a practice setting of “medical aesthetics, or cosmetic dermatology.” I provide nursing and medical services to individuals, families who seek ways to transform inner and outer beauty. In addition, I am able to diagnose and manage acute episodic and chronic illnesses. As a nurse practitioner, I emphasize on health promotion and disease prevention. My services as a nurse practitioner include, but are not limited to ordering, conducting, supervising, and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory values, prescribing pharmacological and pharmacological therapies. As a nurse practitioner, I also teach and counsel individuals and families on health promotion and disease process. As a nurse practitioner, I continue to serve as a health care researcher, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.

When I am not working at Hospitality Skin Spa and Aesthetics, I do like to volunteer within the community. I like to sponsor and help out with several organizations including Fire and Burn Foundation, Inland Empire, Unforgettable’s Foundation, Boys and Girls Club. Bonne Meres Auxiliary of Redlands, Riverside community health foundation, Redlands Fire Department ladder truck fund, Rotary Club of Redlands, Building a generation, West Coast Hooters, and much more

Shelby Vanderwall, RN

My medical background includes emergency medicine.  I have been friends with Jamie as well as a patient.  I have seen how happy she was and her patients and I thought Hospitality Medical Aesthetics would be a great change from the ER.  I came here and thoroughly enjoy helping people take care of themselves and improve their self esteem.

Shelley Jenkins, RN

I have been a registered nurse for 17 years.  My first 3 years I worked in Intensive Care and for the last 14 years I worked at Loma Linda University Medical Center as a gastrointestinal nurse giving sedation for patients undergoing procedures.  I am so excited to start a new chapter working at Hospitality Medical Aesthetics.  It is entirely different than any kind of nursing I have done in the past, but it gives me such satisfaction knowing I am helping people feel and look their best.
