Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face.
As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat. The facial muscles are then working closer to the skin surface, so smile lines and crow’s feet become more apparent.
The facial skin also stretches a bit, adding to this loss of facial volume. Other factors that affect the facial skin include sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle.
Juvederm
- Juvederm
Juvederm is the like the magical wand you’ve always wanted. Between all the different Juvederm types, it can soften facial lines, wrinkles and folds, along with making your lips appear fuller and more contoured. We know it can get confusing distinguishing the difference between Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra plus XC, Vollure, Volbella, Voluma, so we’ve made a guide breaking down the difference of the different products ! Although they’re all in the same family, they can all be used for different things.
- Juvederm Ultra & Juvederm Ultra Plus
Both products now come in “XC” form as well, which means that lidocaine has been added to the product for an anesthetic effect with injection. Both products are similar in how they spread out into the tissue a little more than some other facial filler products. They also tend to absorb more water when injected, and so Juvederm injections can swell more than some of the other products in general. For this reason, Juvederm products are generally not the best choice for treating the area around the eyes. The difference between Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus is the size of the particles, with Juvederm Ultra Plus having a larger particle size, and thus a longer duration of action. In my experience, Juvederm Ultra typically lasts 6-9 months while Juvederm Ultra Plus typically lasts 9-12 months. The softness of the Juvederm family of products generally makes them excellent choices for treating nasolabial folds and the corners of the mouth. These products are also usually my first choice for plumping the lips. Juvederm Ultra is a little softer than Juvederm Ultra Plus, but they are both very useful products for similar areas of the face.
- Juvederm Volbella
Juvederm Volbella is a soft and light way for your lips to appear naturally fuller. Volbella is a hyaluronic acid filler, which means it’s very well accepted by human tissues. The difference between Volbella and other lip fillers is that Volbella has a very light and subtle formula, giving your lips a more natural-looking plumper pout. Even better news? Juvederm Volbella lasts for up to a year, injections only take a few minutes, and there is no downtime! Some people even use Volbella for tear trough filler for the eyes.
- Juvederm Voluma
Juvederm Voluma is a part of the Juvederm family that is wonderful for adding volume to the mid-face region. If you’re experience volume loss in your face and cheeks, Voluma is perfect for you. As we age, our cheeks begin to naturally lose their volume, and the skin may begin to sag. Juvederm Voluma helps correct age-related volume loss in the cheeks to help create a more youthful appearance, and helps contour the face.
- Juvederm Vollure
Juvederm Vollure is softer than Juvederm Voluma, yet more robust than Juvederm Volbella. It’s the perfect balance between the Juvederm types. This dermal filler is ideal for smoothing out fine lines, wrinkles and folds. Juvederm Vollure is wonderful because it caters to many patients’ needs, and lasts significantly longer than many other dermal fillers. A typical injection of Juvederm Vollure can last at least one year and up to 18 months.

Restylane
What is Restylane Kysse?
Restylane Kysse is a clear injectable gel composed of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally occurring sugar, found in the human body.
Restylane Kysse is crosslinked with BDDE, an ingredient that helps form a network of HA to provide a gel filler that lasts longer. HA fillers, including Restylane Kysse, contains HA that has been modified to last longer in the body than the naturally occurring HA. Restylane Kysse contains 0.3% lidocaine to reduce pain during injection.
What is Restylane Kysse for?
Restylane Kysse is injected into the lips and the lines around the upper lip to temporarily add fullness to the lips and help smooth the wrinkles around the upper lip (perioral lines) in patients over the age of 21.
How is Restylane Kysse used?
Restylane Kysse is injected with an ultrafine needle into your lips to add fullness. It can also be injected into the skin above your lips to help smooth the wrinkles around your upper lip (perioral lines).
RESTYLANE CONTOUR:
Support and flexibility, balanced for the cheek
The only cheek filler made with XpresHAn Technology for natural expression.
As we age and lose volume in the midface, we also lose definition in the cheeks. Restylane Contour is the only cheek filler with XpresHAn Technology™ that restores your natural contour, frees dynamic expression, and refreshes your look. Balancing the science and art of aesthetics, this unique injectable hyaluronic acid gel creates natural-looking, subtly rejuvenated cheeks that are reminiscent of your younger self, but true to what makes you beautiful today.
What is Restylane Defyne?
As we age, our skin loses elasticity. This causes the lines that run along the side of the face and mouth (nasolabial folds and marionette lines) to become more pronounced as well as the chin to recede so far back toward the neck that it creates an imbalance of facial features (chin retrusion).
Restylane Defyne is crafted with XpresHAn Technology™ to correct these deepened lines and wrinkles and improve chin projection by correcting mild-to-moderate chin retrusion. The unique cross-linking of the gel in Restylane Defyne is also designed to help support your facial expressions—for natural-looking results that help maintain your natural movement.
What is Restylane Lyft?
Over time, natural fat begins to deteriorate, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles and a reduction of volume. Restylane Lyft, formerly known as Perlane-L®, is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face and hands.
Through nonsurgical injections, Restylane Lyft is specifically designed to add fullness to the cheeks, midface area, and the back of the hands to help complete your aesthetic look — for face and hands.
What is Restylane Refyne?
A next-generation hyaluronic acid dermal filler designed to help support your skin while keeping you looking like you.
As skin loses elasticity with age, the lines that run from the sides of your nose toward the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds) and the lines that run from the corners of your mouth toward the chin (marionette lines) appear more noticeable. Restylane Refyne is a specifically formulated hyaluronic acid dermal filler made with XpresHAn TechnologyTM that helps correct these lines for a more natural look to your face.
The unique cross-linking of the gel in Restylane Refyne is also designed to help support your natural expression—for real-life results that help maintain natural movement when you’re smiling, frowning and even puckering up.
What is Restylane Silk?
The lips and the lines around the mouth, like other areas of the face, show signs of aging as you get older. This often results in lip thinning, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines above the lip.
Restylane Silk is designed specifically to provide natural-looking results in these particular areas by using smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles than those used in other Restylane® products.
